Pandit Jasraj and his family were based in Hyderabad till 1944. He started learning music from his father Pandit Motiram, when he was 3 years of age, a memory which forever remained etched in his mind…
Tragically, a few hours before his father, Sangeet Ratna Pandit Motiram was to be honoured as the Royal singer in the Court of the then Nizam – Mir Osman Ali Khan, his father left for his heavenly abode.
At the time, Pandit Jasraj was only 4 years old.

The Pandit Motiram Pandit Maniram Sangeet Samaroha has showcased performances of many eminent artistes in the past from varied genres of Music and Dance.
To name a few – Late Pt. Ravi Shankar, Late Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, Late MS Subbalakshmi, Late Pt. Bhimsen Joshi, Late Pt. Shivkumar Sharma, Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Ustad Zakir Hussain, Dr. L Subramaniam, Late Pt. Birju Maharaj, Late Girja Devi, Dr. Padma Subramaniam, Shankar Mahadevan, Hariharan and many others.

For this unique service, Pandit Jasraj was given the title ‘Son of Hyderabad’, by the people of Hyderabad at the hands of Bharat Ratna MS Subbulakshmi.
